Practical, engaging and incredibly powerful!
Great Activity Book
I love that the activities are prompted and very easy to follow. Every student is unique and it’s our job to make sure they all feel loved and valued. I love the different word choices as well to help expand their vocabulary for each feeling/emotion.

Absolutely FANTASTIC!
As a mom of a daughter who is autistic, the way this book is written and presented is WONDERFUL for her as she struggles with reading others’ emotions as well as how to handle her big, and oftentimes scary, emotions. I can’t recommend it enough.

About the Book
Roaring, grumping, knots in tummies. Making sense of big feelings can be tricky, and kids are not meant to figure it out alone. Riley the Brave and his safe big critters are here to help.
This activity book features 60+ engaging activities and trauma-sensitive strategies that support children as they learn about big MAD, SAD, and SCARED feelings, what is happening in their brains, and what helps in the moment. Through playful prompts, movement, reflection, and creativity, children build understanding and practical skills they can use again and again.
Bright illustrations and familiar characters guide children through prickly porcupine moments, timid turtle moments, and all the feelings in between. Activities are designed to meet children where they are and invite participation without pressure.
An introduction for grown-ups explains how to use the book with intention and flexibility. Inside, you’ll find a mix of games, printable masks, colorful cards, word searches, action plans, and hands-on tools that work one-on-one or in group settings. Built-in lesson ideas and frequent “Try This!” sections make it easy to adapt for home, classrooms, counseling spaces, and small groups.

So helpful for fostered/adopted daughter!
Because she was already familiar with Riley the Brave from the author’s other work, my 10-year-old dove right into this workbook. Immediately she began sharing feelings with us she hadn’t shared before. There are activities that use scissors, glue, art, writing, drawing, etc. and I can see her self-regulate as she works through it. he even asks for it when she’s upset.
